Transistor Museum (Jack Ward). Pack a lunch because you’ll be gone for a while. Absolutely the best source for background information, including some wonderful pictures of transistors. Presentations by Joe Knight raises this website up several notches.

<>Jack Ward also provides a thoughtful introduction to the collection of transistors in this one-page article.

Transistor History (Mark Burgess). The best site on the web about the history of transistors, focusing on the contributions of the key companies in a time-line fashion. Mark has included European and Australian transistor development as well. Ample resources for digging deeper.

Bob’s Virtual Transistor Museum & History (Bob McGarrah). This site has shut down but can be accessed through the wayback machine (web.archive.org). A treasure trove of information about the history of transistors. Sadly, many of the pictures do not appear anymore. The transistor manufacturing code page should not be missed.

Vintage Transistors (Jan de Groot). An impressive gallery of transistors, by company, from USA, Japan, Europe and Russia. The JEDEC-Code page is the only source on the web that I know of which links pictures of transistors to their JEDEC code in a tabular form. Don’t miss the datasheets, book links page.

Radiomuseum (Ernst Erb). The best on-line database of transistors. Not a history site, only specifications about transistors in the database.

Craft_3 (Masahiro Nakahori). The best source on the web for pictures of Japanese transistors. Excellent photos of transistors around the world as well. Very clever use of the transistor boxes for clickable categories.

Mr. Transistor’s Vintage Technology Pages (Andrew Wylie). This is a somewhat difficult site to maneuver through, but rich in information and pictures. Be sure to visit the American 2N page as well as the Transistor Development Outside the USA page.
