Thanks once again i am learning as i go along. I have added additional pictures. Please can you see if anything is missing. The circuit looks in good shape, i will test it however. I just am not sure if maybe a cap or something must go from the transformer.
https://radios-tsf.fr/Teppaz%20oscar.html
bref il va etre necessaire de faire un peu de schema pour comprendre
It does look very much the same
attention danger it is a mother-in-law killer
I dont know if i should take the chance and switch her on
you need to use an isolation transformer in ordre to secure you during the troubleshooting

Hi Radiolo,
Thank you for the advice, any specific thickness of O-ring. i am assuming a generic O- ring that fits will do the job?
i will post new pictures as soon as it runs smoothly
Work on it, man…

Evening All,
Please can someone assist me, I have just come across a Teppaz Senior, that i will be restoring. Everything works fine, it does require one needle on the flip side. My problem is that when playing a record the sound is very faint / low. Please can you assist on what to check to improve the loudness.
Best Regards
From Cape Town - South Africa.
Hi to all,
Hello Heinwil1,
I am assuming this is a tube amplifier record player, not a transistorized model.
Your record player uses a ceramic phono cartridge. It’s 50 or 60 years old and very often the cartridge doesn’t age well, especially in damp conditions/climate.
Usual symptom is loss of output or complete silence.
Guys here can help you find the appropriate replacement.
You have to tell us if the low sound output comes from the cartridge itself or the amplifier. An easy test to see if the amp is healthy is to touch with a screwdriver the fine cable connecting to the cartridge. One is Ground, the other is Signal. If the amp works, you should hear a loud hum in the speaker when you touch the Signal wire.
If nothing, unplug the Teppaz from the AC power & check with an Ohm meter that the fine cable from the cartridge to the Amp’s input has continuity both on Signal and Ground wires. BTW, it’s a small diameter shielded (coaxial) cable routed inside the tone arm.
Considering the age of the Teppaz have you tested/replaced the old electrolytic and paper capacitors ?
Most important ones are the DC high voltage filters and the tube grid input coupling capacitors.

I did the tests as suggested and in test one works perfectly - loud hum from speaker
TEST 1 - does give a loud hum from speaker
*test to see if the amp is healthy is to touch with a screwdriver the fine cable connecting to the cartridge. One is Ground, the other is Signal. If the amp works, you should hear a loud hum in the speaker when you touch the Signal wire.
TEST 2 - All leads trace fine and show continuity from one point to the other.
*unplug the Teppaz from the AC power & check with an Ohm meter that the fine cable from the cartridge to the Amp’s input has continuity both on Signal and Ground wires. BTW, it’s a small diameter shielded (coaxial) cable routed inside the tone arm.
*** I can now safely say it is the cartridge, I will have to find out from the group how i can find one. She plays but as i said not very loud.
How can i find a cartrige and needle - or can I adapt another cartrige to fit. If so please can someone send me some pictures of how they did it.
I now have 3
Teppaz Oscar Stereo
Teppaz Oscar - Snr
Tappaz Oscar - Travel
Hi to all,
Hi Heinwil1,
Thanks! for doing the tests. Now we’re sure you need a replacement cartridge. Please confirm it’s for the Teppaz Senior Mono.
Will E-Bay or Amazon deliver to South Africa ?

Cordialement
jhalphen
